Yesterday we left Rome and drove to Sorrento. Once we arrived in Sorrento, we got off our big Contiki coach and boarded some mini vans driven by locals. We then went on the most beautiful drive along the Amalfi coast enroute to a small town named Positano.
Positano was the prettiest place I have ever been to. It was a small coastal town set on the side of a cliff. It had narrow streets filled with the most colourful flowers and beautiful boutiques. Throughout both Sorrento and Positano, there was an abundance of lemon trees and shops selling limonchello, an Italian liqueur made from lemons. We tried limonchello at the Tuscan dinner a few nights ago and I thought it was quite tasty.
We went for a swim at Positano before shopping at the boutiques and boarding the mini vans to drive back along the most scenic route of the Almafi coast.
Last night we had dinner in Sorrento and walked from our hotel to the Main Street which was full of markets and tourists. After a quick wander, we went back to the hotel to get a good nights rest as tonight we will be sleeping on a ferry.
