We are in Paris and it is absolutely amazing! Our Contiki tour kicked off yesterday from London and we met our tour guide Kelly and bus driver James as well as our new "Contiki family" which consists of 50 other young adults most of them from Australia. After a listening to a long spiel from Kelly about our tour, we arrived at the Port of Dover where we boarded a ferry that took us across the English Channel to France.

Aboard the ferry, we said goodbye to the UK and the beautiful view of the white cliffs of Dover. Next thing we knew, Bonjour we were in France! We boarded the bus again and drove off the ferry enroute to Paris. After a few speed dates on the bus getting to know our fellow travellers and some information about our stay in Paris, we were in the beautiful city of love itself.
Last night and tonight we are staying at the Ibis in twin rooms which is very comfortable for a Contiki tour. We ate dinner at the hotel last night and tried escargot (snails) which I really liked as they were smothered in garlic.

After dinner, we boarded the bus to have a quick city tour with excellent commentary from our tour manager Kelly and amazing driving by James who drove around the Arc De Triumph where the cars go any way they want. He also drove the bus under the arches into the Louvre which were so skinny the bus only just fit through them! James dropped us off at the Eiffel tower so that we could have a walk around and see it light up. The tower lights up for 5mins every hour starting at 10pm in summer. After an icecream and walk around we saw the beautiful tower light up and rushed to get as many photos as we could during the 5minutes it was lit. After an exciting first day we went back to the hotel for a much needed sleep.
