Now this is a holiday!
We are in a 4-star resort on the Greek Island of Corfu. We have three nights here to relax and recharge for the second half of our tour. It is really nice here and we are glad because getting here was a long and tiring process. We boarded a ferry in Italy at about 6pm then spent the night on the ferry in airline style seating and then docked in Greece at 5:30am. We then had to wait a couple of hours for another ferry to Corfu and by this point we were all hot and tired from getting barely any sleep.
Once we FINALLY arrived at the hotel, we could not check in yet but were able to use the huge pool and have a buffet lunch. The pool and lunch were amazing and the weather here is just perfect. After a much needed nap in the afternoon we got ready for our Ionian dinner. The dinner wasn't just a dinner, it was a special Greek feast complete with lots of singing, dancing, clapping, fire rings and plate smashing. We had fun trying to keep up with the dancing and had some delicious baklava for dessert.
Today the four of us decided to go to the beach for some water sports. First up was parasailing! It was everyone's first time parasailing and we all loved it. It's not a very comfortable ride but the views of the beach were incredible. We then all jumped onto a giant blow up biscuit and were thrown around by the boat.
After our adventurous morning, we chilled out on the beach and tried a Greek kebab thing called a gyros. Gyros is like a small kebab with chips in it. We did not love nor hate the gyros but we decided that kebabs are better. We then had a quiet afternoon at the hotel before a buffet dinner and watching the sunset with cocktails at the bar.
Tomorrow everyone on the is going for a day cruise on 'George's boat' which has a reputation for being an awesome time and the highlight of Corfu for Contiki groups.

Love all your photos. Keep enjoying your holiday
ReplyDeleteYou were very brave parasailing with Shayna! Corfu sounds amazing, especially your accommodation. I look forward to hearing about'George's boat' and how that went. You have escaped one of the coldest winter's here in Canberra - another -7 degrees tomorrow night.
